Get ready to celebrate African American Art and Culture through cinematic excellence at Communities First, Inc.’s 11th Annual African American Film Series! The series kicks off on Thursday, November 13, 2025, with The Fire Inside — the inspirational true story of Flint’s own Claressa Shields, the first American woman to win Olympic gold in boxing. Aided by her tough-love coach, she pushes past every limitation to achieve greatness, only to discover that the real fight has just begun. This event marks the first film in the four-part series, which continues on December 18, January 15, and February 12, 2026. Join us at the Flint Institute of Arts, 1120 E. Kearsley St., Flint, MI 48503. The evening begins with dinner and live music at 5:30 PM, followed by the movie at 6:45 PM and a discussion panel afterward. The event is free, with a suggested $5 donation, and registration is requested at https://tinyurl.com/AAFS2025
